The Mambré Foundation buys 8 apartments to cater for people in a residential exclusion situation

• As an organization specializing in social housing management we start a new stage in which it will be important to have our own assets.

• The excessive prices and the short terms of the rents guide us more and more towards the purchase of house in order to guarantee the stability in the programs that we manage and to the people that we serve.

• 225 housing in rent regime. We continue renting flats and rehabilitating them to help meet the housing needs of the most vulnerable people.

Last week, the Mambré Foundation signed the purchase of 8 apartments in temporary ownership for 75 years thanks to the agreement between the Housing Agency of Catalonia and the Institut Català de Finances that allows social entities without For profit gain access to a loan line under preferential conditions for the purchase of homes to be used for social rental.

The Mambré Foundation was created in 2007 by the Arrels Foundation, the Orde Hospitalaria de Sant Joan de Déu, the Assís Centre d'Acollida and the Compañia de les Filles de la Caritat, with the mission of accompanying the Homeless people in their struggle to access decent housing and for social and labor insertion.

The Foundation currently manages 225 homes located mainly in the metropolitan area and under a rental scheme and serves more than 650 people annually. In order to expand the housing stock, the Foundation also rehabilitates housing that is currently in disuse in order to return it to its main function: to be a home.

The challenge of facilitating access to decent housing for the most vulnerable people has led Mambré to open new ways of attracting housing, such as buying, and thus ensuring greater stability for the people attending.
