A Thousand Thanks! The Magic Line 2017 Closing Ceremony
Magic Line 2017 celebrated its final act on the 30th March at La Pedrera, during which it revealed the social projects chosen to receive more than 300,000 euros that were collected this year. Mambré Foundation was one such project, receiving 5,000 to go towards the work of the Employment Service.
301,842 euros is the exact amount raised during Magic Line 2017 which launched on the 5th March in Barcelona, a record for the programme.
The money will fund 24 social projects, all with a shared aim: increase the quality of life of hundreds of people that find themselves in vulnerable situations..
The Magic Line 2017 closing ceremony was held at La Pedrera in “an emotional event that highlighted the value of solidarity, the ability to mobilise, and the importance of small and large gestures that generate opportunities for every single person”, as concluded by Maira Costa, Director at Fundació Mambré. Magic Line 2017 came to a close with a musical performance by Andrea Motis and Josep Travé.
The success of Magic Line 2017
12,000 participants were split into 835 teams. Thanks to the 12,000 people who walked the route, Magic Line 2017 was a triumph of participation and, most importantly, of solidarity given that it was the first time that donations reached 300,000 euros. It’s an amount that will give a major boost to the 24 social projects that work with vulnerable people who find themselves homeless, dependent on support, dealing with a mental health problem, or hospitalized. It’s also worth highlighting yet another successful year of event organisation by Sant Joan de Déu, who secured the participation of 700 volunteers and 200 companies, organisations and institutions. Without them, Magic Line 2017 would not have been possible.
Thank you, everyone!
